Special Olympics provides year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. Those activities give them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship.

Special Olympics Zambia saw strides in bringing the message of Family Health Forums to Ndola.
To mark the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, Special Olympics Zambia and UNICEF held a Unified Sports Day entitled “Inclusive Sports, Inclusive Communities, Empowerment for All” at the Olympic Youth Development Centre in Lusaka, Zambia.
Special Olympics Zambia hosted their EKS day in Chipata Compound North of Lusaka and invited 4 schools to participate namely, Mutambe, Highland, Northmead basic and Chipata Open Community, the host school.
Special Olympics Zambia (SOZ) partnered with the Special Hope Network when they hosted a fun day for their fourth EKS Day celebration.
Special Olympics Zambia hosted a Fun Day at the Soloboni Primary School in Kafue where a total of 35 athletes, 7 teachers and 6 parents participated.
The tournament in Phokeng, South Africa features 22 national teams from 14 African countries. The teams will participate in this regional 7-a-side football tournament Oct 3-6.
