Special Olympics provides year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. Those activities give them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship.

Ahead of the 2017 World Winter Games in Austria, Special Olympics Uganda held a one day training with the Uganda Sports Press Association (USPA), equipping them with detailed knowledge on how to report from a more informed point of view.
Special Olympics Uganda hosted a 5 day Camp Shriver in celebration of EKS Day. The camp was held at the Kumi University, in the eastern region of Uganda and aimed to provide a Unified® Sports experience for young people with and without an intellectual disability to learn new sports skills, promote physical fitness, and offer social inclusion.
The journey to the Unified 7-a-side football tournament in South Africa to attend the Unity Cup was very interesting to me because of many things that happened in South Africa.
The tournament in Phokeng, South Africa features 22 national teams from 14 African countries. The teams will participate in this regional 7-a-side football tournament Oct 3-6.
