Special Olympics provides year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. Those activities give them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship.

Danel Pärtelpoeg has a particular claim to fame, even among all the participants at the Special Olympics Winter World Games: the Estonian floorball player has been a medalist in another sport altogether.
Even though Taiga Laur, the head coach of Estonia’s floorball team, is coaching athletes at the Special Olympics World Winter Games in Austria, she’s as versatile as a Swiss army knife: a teacher, a composer a poet and a volunteer.
