ABOUT THIS CONFERENCE
The Hearing Access & Inclusion Conference is a seven-day event that will highlight the tools, technologies, and best practices for people with hearing disabilities in celebration of the Americans with Disabilities Act’s 31st Anniversary. This is our second annual event! Last year we were sponsored by Google and this year we hope to see you again!
WHO CAN PARTICIPATE
We would love to see the majority of our attendees be people across the spectrum of hearing disability: cochlear implant and hearing aid users, members of the Deaf community, age or disability related hearing disability, and all those who identify as having some form of hearing challenge.
We welcome people of all disability status, education levels, job descriptions, whether you’re a designer, developer, marketer, entrepreneur, project manager, student, professor, or just a curious aspiring ally. In particular, we are focused on making space for, and elevating and respecting the voices and perspectives of all participants.

The Disability Employment Gap PSP is a unique and forward-thinking initiative in the Scottish employability landscape. We aim to contribute to the ambition set by the Scottish Government in The Fairer Scotland for Disabled People – Employment Action Plan, to half the Disability Employment Gap by 2038.

Federal, state and local disability laws are intended to bring people with all manner of disabilities, including hearing loss, into the mainstream of public life. But implementing those laws in practice is up to affected individuals. How well do you understand your accessibility rights? What steps can or should you take if you feel your rights have been denied?

3-year-old Jasmine was born with severe hearing loss.It was so bad, audiologists say in another era she would have been considered completely deaf .Not long after her first birthday, she had surgery to get cochlear implants in each ear. Now, she works with therapists at Lexington Hearing and Speech Center and is making remarkable progress.
Hear Now is a national non-profit program that helps people who are deaf or hard of hearing get hearing aids if they have no other resources. Hear Now also collects hearing aids for recycling purposes.

Many older adults with severe hearing loss don’t have hearing aids, but those with them typically use less costly types of health care, a new study finds.
Despite Newfoundland and Labrador's lost-time incidence rate being at a historic low, Hearing Loss injuries continue to climb (hitting 10.6 per 10,000 workers, up from 9.5 in 2016).
When someone has hearing loss, friends and family are also impacted. Communication patterns must be altered, new technologies learned, and everyone must adjust to the new reality.
