uWaterloo, Mentor Assistance Through Education and Support (MATES)

MATES (Mentor Assistance Through Education and Support) is a counselling-based, one-to-one peer support program offered by the Federation of Students (FEDs) and UW Counselling Services. MATES provides services to students who are experiencing social difficulties, mental health challenges, and transitional challenges adapting to university life or different cultures.

Hours: Monday – Friday: 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

uWaterloo, Counselling Services

University can be a rewarding and challenging environment. Counselling Services has many resources students can use to get support. We offer coping skills seminars and workshops where students can learn about different ways to manage or overcome obstacles. There are therapy groups where students can hear from others experiencing similar life situations. We offer peer support options and there are opportunities to connect for an individual appointment.

Lutherwood - Betty Thompson Youth Centre

Lutherwood is a not for profit that annually provides mental health, employment, housing and family support services to 22,500 people in Waterloo Region and Wellington County.

uWaterloo, AccessAbility Services

We provide academic support for University of Waterloo students who have both permanent and temporary disabilities.  We support full-time, part-time, graduate and undergraduate students as well as students completing a degree through the Centre for Extended Learning.

OATC Kitchener East Clinic

The Ontario Addiction Treatment Centres  (OATC) were founded in 1995. At that time, treatment for opioid agonist therapy, utilizing methadone, was extremely under-serviced and those seeking treatment often were forced to travel hundreds of kilometers to seek care.

CATP Kitchener

CATP is comprised of a team of Healthcare Professionals and Support Teams to provide care and support to individuals affected by opioid addiction.  We strive on treating the whole person as well as the addiction.  We care greatly to treat every person with the dignity and respect that they deserve on their journey to betterment.

The MS Society provides services to people with multiple sclerosis and their families and funds research to find the cause and cure for this disease. Since our founding in 1948, the core support of the MS Society has been from tens of thousands of dedicated individuals, companies and foundations in communities across Canada. The Society receives almost no funding from government.
