Autistic people and individuals with ADHD, dyspraxia/developmental coordination disorder, dyslexia and other neurodevelopmental conditions experience a complex and overlapping set of challenges that affect their participation in everyday life.
With the goal of enabling people to fulfill their potential and engage in the occupations they need, want or are expected to do, occupational therapists have the skills to assess and assist neurodiversity adults who present to specialist neurodevelopmental services and those who present to other learning disability, employment, physical, or mental health services.
Member enquirers suggest that occupational therapists are struggling to articulate their unique contribution and make a case for their role in supporting adult neurodiversity.
This virtual event is open to RCOT members who are working in adult neurodevelopmental services and in other areas of practice where they support neurodiverse adults. It will provide opportunities for participants to network, share good practice and scope the role of occupational therapy and the College in supporting adult neurodiversity.
Learning Objectives:
This event will be 2 ½ hours long with a 10 minute break and will be hosted on Zoom.
It will consist of presentations and group discussions.
The session will close by identifying and agreeing future actions to progress this work nationally.
