Lemonade & Learn – Disability Sensitivity Awareness Training

Thursday, February 18, 2021 at 1 PM - 3 PM EST

Do you have questions about disabilities and what it actually means? Are you looking to be more inclusive but aren’t sure where to start? Grab a cold glass of lemonade and snack – let’s have a virtual chat! Our Lemonade & Learn session this month focuses on Disability Sensitivity and Awareness. This interactive training provides insight to understanding people with disabilities as well as topics impacting the disability community in an open and respectful and safe supportive space. Over the course of the training, we will investigate various topics including:

  • The definition of disability and the ADA;
  • Knocking down myths and stereotypes;
  • The importance of understanding disability diversity;
  • The role awareness, sensitivity and inclusion plays in our community;
  • Focusing on the person first, not the disability;
  • Disability Etiquette – Best practices to communicating and interacting with people with disabilities;
  • Real facts about disabilities;
  • A mile in my shoes – an interactive activity;
  • Personal experiences about living with a disability;

This training is free but registration is required to join the online meeting room.

Accommodations are available upon request no later than 20 days prior to the training.
