Facilitation is by a member of the Mencap early years team and by a parent co-facilitator.

The objective of this is to give learners an insight into family life when a child has a learning disability and the everyday challenges, barriers and obstacles children and families face.

It also gives insight to services across, health, voluntary and educational sectors and how to refer or access these.

Learners are briefed on their role to observe and to support the child and their family, while highlighting the need to link in with external organisations to better meet the needs of the children in their care.
