Equipping Disabled Graduates with the Tools for Career Success

Monday, January 25, 2021 at 9:30 AM - 10:30 AM EST

The Disability Wales/DRILL Webinar Series, 2.30-3.30pm (BST)

DRILL (Disability Research on Independent Living and Learning) is an innovative 5 year UK wide Programme, led by disabled people, for disabled people and funded by the National Lottery Community Fund (NLCF).

Not enough is known about the experiences of young disabled people in professional occupations, who have largely been absent from social research. In this webinar, DRILL funded researchers explore negative and positive experiences and views of disabled people working in graduate professions. We discuss ways that barriers can be challenged, especially for young disabled people at the start of their careers.

An expert panel (consisting of young disabled people and careers advisors) focus on what more can be done to support disabled students and young people to access schemes such as mentoring and internships.

The webinar is chaired by Rhian Davies (CEO, Disability Wales) and features an address by Helen Mary Jones MS. The session is interactive, including Q&As. A captioning facility will be available with the webinar.
