BARRIER BUSTERS is a practical “How-To” workshop series for breaking through obstacles to employment and life goals. It is open to the general public and is specifically attuned to the interests of low income & people experiencing homelessness.
Many people with disabilities would like to work, but are unsure of how their benefits may be affected, may need training or re-training, not know what jobs & careers are a good match, and are unaware of what options & services through various agencies are available.
There are also many people who need assistance related to obtaining disability benefits, are unsure of their rights, or what assistance exists to obtain a disability determination & how to proceed.
The goal of "Working with a Disability" is to present options, programs & opportunities towards life goals & livable-wage careers, and thus exit homelessness.
It also provides a learning opportunity and networking forum for case managers and agencies to develop their resources and qualified referrals for their clients. These events are reproducible with local guest speakers, and widely publicized throughout the Puget Sound region through many agencies, public resources & event calendars.
