All SEN Session: Social Enterprise & Disability Employment

Friday, June 11, 2021 at 5 AM - 6:30 AM EDT

The last Social Enterprise Census stated that 55% of social enterprises employ someone with a disability or long term health condition, highlighting that social enterprises have an important role to play in helping Scottish Government achieve its ambition to halve the Disability Employment Gap (DEG) by 2038.

Join us at this session and hear from

  • Bridget Sly and Andrew Busby from Govt’s Disability Employment Team to talk about the policy context, progress to date, emerging data on the DEG incl the impact of covid, and future plans.
  • Heather Hall at social enterprise The Usual Place about the incredible work they do to support and create employment for disabled people.
  • Unltd who will share with us the results of their Social Cost Benefit Analysis of social enterprises tackling the DEG

There will be the usual opportunity for questions and open discussion about what social enterprises need to further support disabled people and Govt’s DEG ambition.

We know that Covid has had a disporportionate impact on disabled people, this is an opportunity to explore how we can maximise the contribution of social enterprises to support employability and employment of disabled people.
