We would like to begin by acknowledging that the land on which we gather is the traditional and unceded territory of the Algonquin nation.
Are uneven sidewalks making it difficult to move from class to class using a moblity aid? Is the lack of braille on campus making it difficult to navigate campus as someone who is blind or low-vision? Are steep inclines on campus (ramps, tunnels, etc.) a hazard for you? Are you missing class because getting there is too difficult?
Viewed across Canada as a leader in accessible education, Carleton University prides itself on its accessibility policies and accessible campus.
Do you agree? Disagree?
Join us on November 24th from 6:30 until 9:00+ (we will stay until everyone has shared) at the Carleton Disability Awareness Centre, to discuss what Carleton needs to improve (or what they are doing well) to make campus a truely accessible space.
You do not need to be a current student, all users of the campus are welcome.
We welcome people of all disabled identities, including those who do not identify as disabled, but who benefit from accesssible spaces and policies. This includes those with invisible disabilities and those with non-physical disabilities.
