2nd Annual Ottawa Fundraising Dinner: Building an Inclusive Society

Sunday, October 21, 2018 at 5 PM - 9 PM EDT

Support accessibility and inclusion for those with disabilities in your community!

On October 21st, a not-to-be missed dinner with the following featured speakers:

  • Br Abu Hafsah Abdul Malik Clare,

  • Dr. Reda Bedeir,

  • Sr Rabia Khedr,

  • Br Dawud Wharnsby and

  • local disability advocate Zeinab Mohamad

DEEN Support Services is a registered charity operated by and for people with disabilities and their families in the Muslim community. We run a life skills day program and drop-in activities for youth and adults with intellectual disabilities like Autism, etc. We run peer support groups for people with blindness/vision loss, physical disabilities and for families living with disabilities. Long-term, we want to operate residential homes/group homes that provide gender-specific care for individuals with disabilities when their parents/caregivers pass away (or simply want to go on vacation or need a break because of health issues of their own!).

Our work is voluntarily championed by people like Imam Zijad Delic, Sr. Shahina Siddiqui, Sh. Abdalla Idris, Imam Zaid Shakir from the US, Dr. Hamid Slimi, Sh. Imram Ally and many others.

Why is this a cause worth supporting?

- Regardless of cultural and spiritual needs, there are lengthy waiting lists for any services for those with disabilities

- The government does not pay for everything for those with disabilities

- Everyone has a right to culturally and spiritually relevant care.

- DEEN Support Services offers Muslims with disabilities ways to connect with their culture/religion and community in ways that weren't possible before.

-DEEN Support Services actively advocates for those who are isolated, lonely and vulnerable in our communities. We would never want to be in that place ourselves so let's help individuals or families that are isolated due to stigma or various barriers.

- There are families in crisis right here in our community that desperately need your help.

With each $50.00 ticket, you'll get:
