Join us for The Week of Academic Vision and Excellence. The WAVE is an annual conference that brings together national and state leaders in education to share knowledge and expertise on best practices, quality instruction, regulations and law requirements. The Wyoming Department of Education is excited to announce this year's collaboration with the University of Wyoming and the Ellbogen Teaching and Learning Symposium fund.
The conference will be kicked off by celebrating the 10-year partnership between Wyoming and Eye to Eye, a not-for-profit organization that advocates support for the full inclusion of people with learning disabilities and ADHD in all aspects of society. Founder, David Flink, along with colleagues, LeDerick Horne and Marcus Sutra, will give a collaborative keynote on "Reframing Learning for a New Generation of Students, Families, & Educators.”
Additional keynote addresses will be heard from Dr. Rosemarie Allen, Assistant Professor in the School of Education at Metropolitan State University of Denver. Dr. Allen's topic will be centered around 'The Disproportionality in Suspensions and Expulsions: Why We Should All Care'. Also, Dr. Jennifer Kurth, Assistant Professor of Special Education at the University of Kansas, will deliver a motivating keynote on “The Evidence for, and Outcomes of, Inclusion Education”. A presentation that will focus on methods of delivering effective, high-quality inclusive services to all learners.
The University of Wyoming in conjunction with the Wyoming Department of Education and the Professional Teaching Standards Board of Wyoming is excited to offer an innovative way for teachers in the state to earn professional development credit. Through the use of emerging technologies, teachers have an opportunity to develop specific skills via the completion of micro-credentials. Micro-credentials are teacher driven, professional development units that offer skill acquisition in smaller chunks. We are inviting 30 educators, who are interested in earning professional development credit-focused specifically on evidence-based practices utilized for students with autism and/or behavioral needs. Your participation will not only earn professional development credits but will guide the development of a statewide micro-credentialing system.
