This two-hour workshop explores the prevalence and incidence of suicide. We discuss current, pressing issues that are related to suicide, and unpack myths and misperceptions. Participants will leave with a comprehensive booklet from the QPR Institute, resources and three tangible skills that will help avert the tragedy of suicide.
We will have an opportunity to practice these new skills in a safe environment; participate in a group discussion about the impact suicide has in the world, in our communities, and in our personal lives; and we will talk about what community resources are available to utilize in a crisis for yourself or someone you love.
After completing this training, audiences will be equipped with the tools to:
1. Recognize when someone may be at risk for suicide
2. Identify the warning signs of suicide
3. Intervene if someone is in crisis
4. Refer someone to proper resources
5. Get help for yourself or learn more about preventing suicide
…and much more.
Suicide is a serious issue that is taking the lives of many people, young and old. And unfortunately, the conversation of suicide is oftentimes swept under the rug. Family members and friends don't know who is struggling, and those who are struggling don't know who to reach out to for help.
Whether you know it or not, you have what it takes to save a life.
