Are you an Electronics Whiz?
On July 5 2018, from 1 -8pm, The Makers Making Change team will be at the Vancouver Hack Space (www.vanhack.ca) with a number Lipsyncs that need some TLC.
By volunteering to troubleshooting a Lipsync, you help a person with a disability (who may be quadripelegic or have limited use of their hands) gain access to a touchscreen device.
What is a Lipsync?
The LipSync (www.makersmakingchange.com/lipsync) is a mouth operated joystick that allows a person to control an onscreen cursor with minimal head and neck movement. An open-source hardware project funded by Google, it uses 3D printed parts, an Arduino Micro board, and other common parts that can be soldered to a circuit board and built in a day.
The MMC team just finished touring across the country to host a series of LipSync Buildathon events sponsored by Telus. Not every build gets finished at our buildathon events, so we have a box of LipSyncs that just need a bit of TLC to become working units. We need your help to get these units finished and into people’s lives.
If you are free July 5 between 1-8pm and have intermediate to expert level electronics skills, feel free to participate! Vancouver Hack Space is at #104-1715 Cook Street Vancouver, British Columbia V5Y 3J6
Materials and instruction manuals will be provided. We'll buy pizza (around 6pm) for maker volunteers who participate, so make sure to RSVP!
