Prototype of the transradial amputee handlebar adaptation implemented on a bike
Moulded thermoplastic (white) and conformable foam (blue) added for some degree of personalization to the residual limb. Steel outer socket provides structural integrity.
View of the inside of the moulded thermoplastic. The thermoplastic can be placed in water, causing it to become malleable but not retaining the heat, and then draped and forms to the residual limb.
Dual gear shifter allows the front and rear brakes to be applied with a single leaver using the dominant hand.
Single-sided gear shifter was created from a machined part that was inserted into the end of the aero-bar. This allows the athlete to shift both the front and rear brakes with the dominant hand.
Swinging mechanism allowing the athlete to swivel from the upright to aerodynamic position. The end of the socket allows for length adjustment.
