UCB School Psychology Conference: Exploring Autism Spectrum Disorder

Friday, March 19, 2021 at 11:30 AM - 7 PM EDT

Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) manifests in a broad range of symptoms characterized by challenges with social skills, speech and nonverbal communication as well as repetitive behaviors. According to the Centers for Disease Control estimate, ASD affects 1 in 54 children in the United States today. The diagnosis of ASD has dramatically evolved over the past half-century and its clinical characteristics and criteria have also changed and expanded. This conference brings together three experts to provide our audience with up-to-date research on the current understanding of ASD and the evidence-based interventions for social communication and social skills. Dr. Peter Mundy (Director of Educational Research, UC Davis MIND Institute), Dr. Mina Park (Assistant Clinical Professor in the UCSF Department of Psychiatry and a board-certified behavior analyst (BCBA-D), and Dr. Connie Kasari (Professor of Psychiatry at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA) have a wealth of knowledge in ASD research as well as experiences in supporting students with ASD. They will provide attendees with cutting-edge information and practical tools in order to better address the challenges associated with ASD.
