Together! 2021 Disability History Month Festival Launch event

Thursday, November 11, 2021 at 2 PM - 3 PM EST

Together! 2012 Artistic Director Dr Ju Gosling is joined by Colin Hambrook, Disability Arts Online (DAO) Editor, from Brighton to talk about Disability and visual art online as we launch the Together! 2021 Open Exhibition and new exhibitions by Vince Laws and Duncan Bridgstock.

The annual Together! Open Exhibition showcases work by amateur, community, semi-professional and professional Disabled artists in the main London 2012 Host Borough of Newham, including work from community based arts groups. Artists are invited to submit one piece each, with automatic acceptance so long as it is family friendly. Curated by Alison Marchant and Sarah Hughes.

‘Painting Myself Happy’ is a new exhibition of self-portraits in oil by Vince Laws. Vince will also be talking about his work at the event.

‘Because i felt like it’ is a new exhibition of collages by Duncan Bridgstock. Duncan is a Newham-based artist and Together! 2012 Art Club participant who began to create collages from recycled card after the pandemic began. Duncan’s materials include recycled medication packets as well as domestic recycling.

Disability Arts Online is the UK’s digital platform for Disabled artists and Disabled-led companies. They organise a range of events and activities as well as publishing a weekly e-magazine.
