Learning Disability Work Experience Week 2020: How to Employ People with Learning Disabilities
About this Event
Unity Works is marking #LDWEW20 with a series of online events and workshops!
Closing the week with our session 'Supporting Employees with Learning Disabilities with Mental Wellbeing', co-written with our Experts through Experience., we will look at some common questions and concerns from the points of view of candidates, their families/support networks, as well as employers. We will look at the impact of lockdown on wellbeing and suggest some strategies to help people return to work and cope with changing working environments.
2020 has been a very difficult year for employment. Pre-Covid, only 5.6% of people with learning disabilities were in work. This is despite the fact that nearly 70% want to work- and still do!
Please join us to learn how we can be inclusive and supportive to employees who have learning disabilities.
You will receive an email confirming your session and stating the joining instructions before it begins. You will need to have downloaded the Zoom app, or created a free Zoom account.
Please also check out our other online training! and events for #LDWEW20
About us:
Unity Works were nominated and highly commended for ERSA's Team of the Year 2020 Award! As well as our employment services, we run social enterprises including 6 Cafes, Mail Out, and Mill Lane Garden Centre. As you can appreciate, these have all been affected by lockdown. We have therefore introduced a ticket system for our training- if you would have bought a coffee in our cafe during your visit to us, please do consider this. You can also select regular price if you can, or make a donation of your choosing. If you are experiencing financial hardship, contact [email protected] to see what we can do.
