Welcome Back to the Big IDEA Parent Workshop Series!

**This workshop is for parents of children with disabilities in Orange County Public Schools, Florida**

In the third workshop, we are going to discuss Executive Functioning! What is it, why is it important, and what can we do to help our children? In this workshop, you will hear how one parent tackled the issue of teaching executive functioning skills to her children at home on a shoestring budget and a LOT of creativity. Parents, get ready; thiere's A LOT of information in this workshop, and it's all about how you can personally, hands-on help your child reach their potential.

Participants will be able to:

  • Learn negotiation techniques that will help in IEP meetings.

  • Learn how to use simple techniques to establish and maintain daily direct contact with teachers.

  • Find access to free information and publications about ESE to use in IEP meetings.

  • Learn practical ways to help children become self-advocates and assist parents in helping their children learn skills for independence /independent living that can be built into IEP goals.

  • Set boundaries and expectations that will reduce stress and simplify decision making.

  • Incorporate OT and PT into daily life activities and make it fun.
