Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at 5:30 PM - 7:30 PM PDT

If you run a business, have clients, use a public Instagram account, or have a business Facebook account then this workshop has information for you!

Disabled folks access the internet every day, and 70% of them will leave a website instantly if it is inaccessible. 80% percent of disabled people rate accessibility above price when choosing where to purchase.

You could be losing potential business due to some easily corrected design mistakes.

On top of opening up your website to that customer base, there are many other reasons to incorporate these things into your website.

  • Persons with disabilities have money, and want to spend it! While often overlooked, they are the third largest economic power in the world, after the US and China!
  • It will benefit non-disabled people. Some of the things we will go over will also make your website more user friendly to many different demographics.
  • It will increase your SEO - Search Engine Optimization!
  • It will raise awareness that accessibility isn't just about physical spaces. The internet should be available to everyone, and we should all do our part to make sure content we are creating is too.
  • We are going to cover Vocabulary, Tools Used by disabled folks to access the internet, Web Design, and Social Media.

Web designers are rarely taught about accessibility in school, even though it is a vital part of web development and SEO. Although we will cover some backend web design info, you don't need any technical or coding skills to take this workshop.

If you are building your own website, it will give you a great start. And if someone is building your website for you, it will give you a list of items to bring to them.

You will leave this workshop with insights, tools and a list of resources and ready to add accessibility to all your online platforms.
