  • “PTSD” means post traumatic stress disorder.
  • PTSD is an exaggerated experience of fear cause by a traumatic memory, common to war veterans.
  • “DG” means dentate gyrus.
  • DG serves as a means to regulate information flow in the brain, and is integral to generating fear memories.
  • Adiponectin is a hormone that digests fatty acid, and is shown to be able to traverse the blood-brain barrier.
  • Adiponectin is identified in reducing fear generation in mice.
  • “AdipoRon” and “AdipoR2” refers to an adiponectin protein.
  • Research shows that knocking off AdipoR2 in mice results in a decrease in fear expression in mice.
  • Researchers were able to inject mice with AdipoR2 knockoff gene, to measure fear responses to electric shock stimuli.
  • A functional link has been found to AdipoR2 application and fear reduction.
