Parent Power Lab: Autism & Relationships Banner Image

Join us for our February Parent Power Lab. This month's topic is the impact of Autism on relationships of all kinds, including friendships, siblings and caregivers/parents. Come with questions, leave empowered!

When a child is diagnosed with Autism, we realize first-hand that the family dynamic changes. However, with specific strategies and supports in place, children and families can thrive beyond the diagnosis.

Our activities will include:

  • Mindfulness exercise for special needs parents
  • Tips for enhancing relationships between siblings
  • How to support your marriage and additional children through an Autism diagnosis
  • Whole-group and small-group discussion

Each month at our Parent Power Labs, we will discuss a different topic related to parenting a child with Autism, including:

  • Self-Care for Autism Parents
  • Diagnosis and Treatment: Where Do I Start?
  • Best Resources for Autism (Books, Community Connections, and more)
  • Language Building Strategies for All Levels of Autism

Each Power Lab will be structured, yet interactive and will allow time for questions and answers. Our meetings will be led by Speech-Pathologist, Autism Consultant and fellow Autism parent, Crystal Y. Sanford of Sanford Autism Consulting.

NOTE: For the first time, a portion of our Parent Power Lab will be simulcast via Facebook live! We are so excited to have the opportunity to share this experience with parents impacted by Autism around the world.

Light snacks will be provided. Seating is limited to the first 10 registrants. Please RSVP today to secure your spot. Feel free to contact the event sponsor with any questions:

Are you concerned about your child? Do they struggle with attention, language, behavior or social skills? Difficulty completing tasks? Meltdowns when routines change?

ADHD or Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) could be the explanation, as these are two of the most common disabilities impacting children at this time.

Invisible Disabilities is a category of disabilities typically neurological in nature, with symptoms not easily apparent to others. It is estimated that 10% of people in the U.S. have a medical condition which could be considered a type of Invisible Disability. The fact that the symptoms are invisible unforunately can lead to misuderstandings, misdiagnosis or under-diagnosis in many cases.

Join us as we explore two Invisible Disabilities: ADHD and Autism Spectrum Disorder. You will learn:

  • Signs and symptoms

  • Next steps when considering a diagnosis

  • Strategies to help at home

Our presenters come with years of experience and a passion for supporting children and adults impacted by ADHD and Autism Spectrum Disorder:
