Description
Article 12 Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) requires that states provide persons with mental disabilities with access to support for the exercise of legal capacity. The objective for this is to ensure that an individual's rights, will and preferences are respected and given effect. The Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (General Comment No 1) has stated that such support may include advance planning.
This webinar will consider the role, benefits and challenges of psychiatric advance statements in the context of psychiatric care and treatment in the broader sense but also from the perspective of England and Wales and Scotland.
