About this Event
This training is great for teachers, administrators, paraprofessionals, educational assistants, therapists, social workers, school nurses and sexuality educators.
For those of you who are new to Sexuality for All Abilities please check out our website for more information. This sexuality education curriculum was created for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities of all ages. We have found that people of all ages and abilities respond well to our curriculum. We focus on the topics of healthy relationships, boundaries, consent and sexual health.

10:00-10:35 Background Info and Equitable Sex Education
In this section we’ll discuss why the need to focus on sexuality education for students with disabilities – where we’ve been and where we hope to go. We will talk about how sex education can be more equitable for students with disabilities
10:35-10:50 Recognizing, Responding, Reacting
This section focuses on how to recognize, respond, or react to situations involving sexual behaviors. For example, how to react and respond if a student reports assault or abuse to you. Or how to react if a student demonstrates a sexual behavior in a public place.
10:50-11:05 Break
11:05-11:55 Curriculum Training
We will give an overview of the curriculum as well as how lessons are laid out. Then we will dig deeper into how to teach some of the activities within the curriculum.
11:55-12:10 Break
12:10-12:30 Curriculum Training cont.
We will continue to demonstrate some of the activities within the curriculum.
12:30-1:00 Distance Learning, Reflection, Questions
In this final section, we will share some tips for using the curriculum during distance learning as well as share how we can continue to support you moving forward. Finally finishing up our training with a reflection for you to think about next steps for you.
