There is one State Council on Developmental Disabilities (DD Councils) for each U.S. state and terrority. The DD Act created State Councils on Developmental Disabilities as one of three mandated programs in each U.S. State and Territory; these programs include:
 

• Councils on Developmental Disabilities
• State Protection & Adovacy Designee
• Centers for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (UCEDD's)

Each of these programs is funded by the Federal Administration on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (AIDD).
