Join NAMI Metro Baltimore and Sharon Christie, a nurse and attorney, for a talk on Social Security Disability and SSI, followed by a Q & A session. This Mental Health Forum is the first of a two-part Legal Series sharing legal information and resources for individuals and families affected by mental health conditions.

Sharon graduated from the University of Virginia with a BS in Nursing. She worked for six years as a nurse in critical care and home health settings. She has a Master’s Degree in Nursing and Health Policy from the University of Maryland, and she graduated magna cum laude from The University of Notre Dame Law School. Sharon is the founder and owner of Sharon Christie Law, a firm specializing in helping clients obtain disability benefits throughout Maryland, DC, Delaware, Virginia and Southern Pennsylvania.

Sharon is AV rated, the highest ranking possible in the Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory. She is a recipient of the Judith P. Ritchey Achievement Award, presented by the Baltimore County Bar Association. Sharon is a Fellow of the Maryland Bar Foundation and was named a Maryland Super Lawyer for Social Security Disability in Baltimore Magazine. She was recognized as an Outstanding Alumnae of Mercy High School and was named to the Bar Register of Preeminent Women Lawyers.

Sharon has lectured for many groups, including NAMI Metropolitan Baltimore, the Brain Injury Association of Maryland, the Lupus Foundation, Let’s Talk Sarcoidosis, and the Sinai Return to Work Program. She has authored 2 books on Social Security Disability benefits, The Unofficial Guide to Social Security Disability Benefits and Can You Win Your Social Security Disability Case?: The Blueprint You Need to Get Social Security Disability.

NAMI Metropolitan Baltimore presents mental health forums about various topics every month. Space is limited and advanced registration is required.
