With the help of her church, Orléans United, a mom started her own drop-in program, called Girls on the Spectrum. Girls on the Spectrum isn’t just for girls with #autism, but also for their parents.
Her daughter, Miriam, is high functioning on the autism spectrum, but the program is inclusive to anyone who wants to attend, whether they are nonverbal or not.
The program had its first get-together the afternoon of Oct. 15, at Orléans United Church. Further meetings will happen every Sunday, from 1 to 3 p.m. For more information on the program, contact Allen at [email protected] or at 613-852-0828.
