Mental Health: Listening to BAME communities -Session for Service Providers

Monday, July 12, 2021 at 10 AM - 11:30 AM EDT

The MK Intercultural Forum would like to invite you to join this meeting, the second of three. This meeting will be a space to share the outcomes, ideas, recommendations and thoughts of the BAME community members we engaged with in the first Meeting regarding Mental Health and Wellness.

We will share the Report produced from the first Meeting and would like to hear from Service Providers about the services you have and how you are addressing BAME communities' needs. We know this conversation and work towards transforming services is ongoing. So we feel this will be a valuable and vital space for services to engage in and hear from community members.

Services run by the NHS and the Local Authority (LA) have acknowledged their challenges in competently serving members of BAME minority groups, as evidenced by the health outcomes for Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic groups, which are poorer than those of their White counterparts.

This invite is also an invitation to Meeting Number 3 (TBC), which will be facilitated conversations between the Service Providers and BAME members/communities of MK. We will share more details about this in the coming weeks.

The MK Intercultural Forum hosts this event. The Forum has created space and provided representation of voice for marginalised BAME groups in Milton Keynes. The Forum comprises individuals from minority communities.

We hope that you will join us in this campaign to raise our voices and bring positive change to how we can support the mental health and wellbeing of BAME communities. If there are any questions, please email us at [email protected]

We would like to acknowledge that using the term BAME is not ideal or suitable to encompass our communities' broad range of experiences and diversity. However, it is widely recognised and commonly used across sectors.
