Transitions are often difficult for children with ADHD or learning disabilities beginning in elementary school, continuing through middle and high school, and right on into young adulthood. However, the transition from high school to post–high school training or college and then into the adult work world may be by far the most challenging for our teens.
Executive function deficits have a profound impact during each of these transitions. Addressing deficits in executive skills as early as possible during the school years is crucial.
This session provides an overview of key ADHD transitions. In addition, specific intervention strategies will be reviewed for each transition with an emphasis on strategies to address deficits in executive skills whether in middle/high school or in the work world. 2 CEs
