We are excited to announce, the inaugural National Meeting of the Irish Academy of Childhood Disability (IACD) that takes place virtually on September 24th this year. The IACD is a newly formed organisation of clinicians who work with children with disability in Ireland. It is affiliated to the European Academy of Childhood Disability (EACD) and the International Alliance of Academies of Childhood Disability (IAACD).
Our theme for the day will focus on the F-Words in Childhood Development an approach which promotes function, fitness and fun with family and friends across every life and into the future. We are excited to welcome international keynote speakers, Dr Peter Rosenbaum from CanChild and Dr Elegast Montbaliu, from the Belgian Academy of Childhood Disability. Our national speakers will include Deirdre Fitzgerald, speaking from a parents perspective of raising a child with disability using an assets based approach. Lily Collison and Kara Buckley will share key insights from their newly published book: "Pure Grit: Stories of Remarkable People Living with Physical Disability."
