Engaging in rigorous, age-equivalent curriculum in regular classrooms alongside same-aged peers is an important aspect of inclusive education. Teachers are required to design learning experiences that ensure all students can access their grade level content, can interact with and make use of high-quality instructional practices, and are able to authentically demonstrate their learning and progress.
For some students with disability, this will require the provision of curriculum adjustments. Curriculum adjustments focus on providing differentiated teaching practice in combination with an increase in the frequency and intensity of supports based on an individual student's learning profile. This increase in frequency and intensity is organised into three main tiers - supplementary, substantial, and extensive curriculum adjustments.
This webinar focuses on unpacking what curriculum adjustments are, and when and how they should be utilised. It also includes demonstration of how curriculum adjustments can be applied to grade-level content, and what this alignment looks like in relation to lesson delivery and assessment tasks. Examples form across all three tiers of curriculum adjustments, and from both Primary and Secondary school contexts will be explored.
A certificate of attendance, a copy of the presentation slides, and any additional resources will be provided to all registered participants. Following the event, a link to the webinar recording will be emailed to all who have registered. The recording will be available for viewing for 2 weeks post the event.
