When we think of disability, some common themes and ideas might come to mind. But disabilities impact over 2 million Canadians, and most of them probably look different than what we first think of. Join us for a short one hour webinar for a glimpse into the lived experiences of people with disabilities, to identify some common ableist expressions (some that you might use on a regular basis), and learn how to be a more effective ally to the disabled community.
This event is by donation, with 30% of the proceeds going to Creating Accessible Neighbourhoods (Link to CAN website: https://www.canbc.org/). The suggested donation amount is $5-$10.
The session will include a 45 minute presentation followed by 15 minutes of discussion at the end, all happening over Zoom. There will be closed captioning.
We would like to acknowledge that not all the presenters of this workshop identify as disabled and some may speak from a place of privilege. Through this and other workshops, we are hoping to raise awareness and amplify the voices of all marginalized folks.
