Free Webinar on Sexuality & Developmental Disabilities

Wednesday, February 17, 2021 at 7 PM - 8:15 PM EST

Talking about sexuality with young adults with disabilities can be difficult, to say the least. Some parents wonder if discussing it implies permission or encouragement. And it’s often hard for us to gauge how much our loved ones understand about this important part of “growing up.” How can we become comfortable with this sensitive topic and help young people with disabilities establish and maintain safe and healthy relationships as they mature?

Obtain answers to this question and more through a free webinar for parents and guardians about sexuality and developmental disabilities. Disability advocate and parent/coach Kris Burbank will host the event with instruction by Elizabeth Sola, an educator with Elevatus Training and the parent of a young adult on the autism spectrum. Beth brings 25 years of extensive experience teaching and supporting self-determination in individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families. She is committed to empowering parents to “start the conversation” about healthy relationships and sexuality education from an early age.

Please join us to:

▪ Examine barriers to talking about sexuality;

▪ Gain helpful tips to become more comfortable discussing this sensitive subject with young people who have I/DD;

▪ Learn what topics to cover at what age;

▪ Get answers to your questions about how to best serve young adults in this aspect of their growth and development;

▪ And acquire skills to communicate comfortably and effectively about sexuality with young and grown children with I/DD.

We hope you can join us for an informative and empowering evening.
