Framing the Future: Disability exclusion - Before, during and after Covid-19

About this Event

Framing the Future is the Chamber's new events series where we take a deep dive into the North East's big political and economic issues with expert speakers to discuss their research and ideas.

Our next event in the series will explore the impact of the crisis on disabled people, what we can learn from the response to the pandemic and what we need to see from Government to ensure an inclusive recovery.

The Covid-19 pandemic has had a huge impact on people with disabilities in the North East, socially, mentally, physically and financially. The crisis has exacerbated barriers disabled people face and shone a light on longer-term inequalities. However, the pandemic has also highlighted how quickly society can create more inclusive conditions and has opened doors for widespread adoption of disability inclusive practices, such as remote working and digitisation.

Speakers and agenda:

Angela Matthews, Business Disability Forum and Richard Boggie, Difference North East will each present their research and ideas before Arlen Petit, Knowledge Development Manager at the Chamber hosts a panel-style Q+A, where attendees have the opportunity to ask the speakers questions on the topic.
