Equality of access to healthcare for people with developmental disability

Wednesday, November 11, 2020 at 8:30 PM - 10 PM EST

Join Scope and University of Melbourne for a free public webinar on Equality of access to healthcare for people with development disability.

About this Event

The right to health is enshrined in the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. However, there are a range of barriers and issues that people with disability may experience with the health system that contribute to poorer outcomes for people with developmental disability. A lack of coordination between the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) and health systems can compound the issues experienced by many people with disability.

The anticipated release of the interim report from the Royal Commission into Violence, Abuse, Neglect and Exploitation of People with Disability offers an opportunity to explore some of the themes emerging from the Commission on equality of access to healthcare for people with disability.

Join the Scope-University of Melbourne Partnership for a free public webinar on Equality of access to healthcare for people with developmental disability. The event will feature a keynote address from Professor Julian Trollor from the University of New South Wales, along with a panel discussion featuring members of the disability community. Professor Keith McVilly from the University of Melbourne will facilitate a Q&A session.

The Zoom link for the webinar will be sent to you via email prior to the event.

This event will be Auslan interpreted and live captioned.
