Disabled Youth Talking: Sports and Recreation

Saturday, February 6, 2021 at 4 PM - 6 PM EST

Calling all young folks! Accessible Sport Connection Manitoba invites you to spend some time virtually connecting with disabled youth from all over Manitoba. This event is intended to connect Manitoba students with a disability to their peers and provide them an opportunity to share their experiences within a supportive environment. You are encouraged to invite your (non-disabled) friends to attend and support them by kindly listening.

Your host for the event is Lily Rich, a grade ten student and member of the Para Storm Swim Club. She enjoys reading, debating and talking about disability issues.

Join Lily to talk about,

- Your experiences participating in physical activity at school.

- Ideas about creating inclusive and welcoming spaces for young people in our sport and recreation communities..

- How has Accessible Sport and Recreation affected your life.

With written permission from their parent or guardian, we invite students in grades 6 to 12, to register for this event. We will be using Zoom for this gathering. The event will NOT be recorded.

Assisting Lily with her hosting duties is ASCManitoba Vice President and visually impaired athlete, Kirby Cote. If you have any questions about this event, please contact us at [email protected]

This event is supported by the Government of Manitoba and their Safe at Home Manitoba Grant. Visit www.safeathomemb.ca/stay-home for a full list of Family friendly events hosted and created by Manitobans!
