Disabled People Talking: Stories and Conversation about Accessible Sport and Recreation in Manitoba

Saturday, March 6, 2021 at 4 PM - 6 PM EST

Our first Storytelling Event was such a success, we had to host a second!

What is the best way to get to know someone? Sharing funny stories! Being active as a person with a disability can often be a comedy of errors that we wear as badges of honor. Tell us about a funny fail, that one time everything went wrong and all you could do was laugh. Maybe there is a story behind your nickname or you are the main character in a tale often told on long road trips with teammates through the prairies. Perhaps you got creative during the pandemic and things got goofy in a Zoom class or at home while attempting to be active with your quaren-team bubble?!

Winter is almost over, lets have a laugh and help each other get through these last few weeks.

If you attended our first event, we will be keeping the same format! You are invited to share any story about Accessible Sport and Recreation, the story prompts are there to give you inspiration. Our event is a safe space to be yourself. The Event WILL NOT be recorded. We ask that you keep your story to around a maximum time limit of three minutes. If you shared a story at our first event you are very much invited to participate again! Your host for this Event will be wheelchair athlete Jared Funk.

This event is open to persons with a disability, their friends and family members as well as disability community allies.

Accessible Sport Connection Manitoba created these events to connect our community by allowing folks to share their experiences, their voices and their adventures in Accessible Sport and Recreation. As the post pandemic landscape changes, we will continue to bring our community together in a variety of ways.
