Disability Justice 101 w/ Sarah Jama from DJNO (Disability Justice Network)

Saturday, February 6, 2021 at 2 PM - 4:25 PM EST

In this workshop you will learn about the history of disability justice, explore links between ableism and white supremacy, and learn about ways to incorporate disability justice frameworks into movement building spaces.

The workshop will be followed by a 35-minute brainstorming session with Resource Movement’s Decentering White Supremacy and Ableism Working Group. We’ll create action items and next steps, taking principles and learnings from the workshop and applying them to our work at Resource Movement.

Accessibility: The event will be in English and streamed via Zoom. Live transcription services will be provided for this event. Please reach out through the Resource Movement Facebook page should you have any other access needs.

This event is organized by Resource Movement and features Sarah from the The Disability Justice Network of Ontario (DJNO). Resource Movement is a community of young people with wealth and/or class privilege working toward the redistribution of wealth, land, and power. DJNO aims to build a just and accessible Ontario, wherein people with disabilities: Have personal and political agency; Can thrive and foster community; Build the power, capacity, and skills needed to hold people, communities, and institutions responsible for the spaces they create.
