Disability Awareness (Evening)

Thursday, April 26, 2018 at 5:30 PM - 7 PM CDT

Community Connections Learning Labs

Course Description: Creating an accessible environment is a win-win situation for everyone. This learning lab will demistify myths and misconceptions regarding living with a disability. Presenters will discuss effective ways of engaging and working with people of disabilities.

Course Details: People with disabilties have the right to full inclusion and integration in all aspects of society. Living with a disability is the one thing that knows no boundary -- in an instant any could become a person with disability. However, living with a disability only defines a facet about a person. This learning lab will discuss myths and misconceptions regarding living with a disability. Furthermore, presenters will demonstrate how people with disabilities can participate, work, and benefit from the same services as everyone else. Removing barriers doesn't only benefit people with disabilties but everyone.
