Dementia Care

Monday, September 27, 2021 at 4:30 AM - 11:30 AM EDT

Dementia affects around 820,000 people in the UK. This figure is likely to rise to one million by 2025 and two million by 2051. It is one of the main causes of disability in later life. Understanding dementia and the person-centred care that is required is fundamental to high quality care.

Learning Outcomes:

  • To understand what dementia is, to learn about the different causes of dementia and an overview of signs and symptoms
  • To be able to list a range of factors, including the care approach and environment, that may cause additional difficulties for people with dementia and relate this to how an individual’s experience of dementia may differ from person to person
  • To understand a person-centred approach to care and support of individuals living with Dementia and to recognise how others can have an impact on the individual with dementia.

Target Audience:

All case holders/care staff in Adult Services who have service users with Dementia.
