For many disabled people and their families, the time, energy, stress, planning and information required for them to successfully have a day out is so great that it puts them off. These challenges have been further exacerbated by Covid-19. However, as restrictions are lifted, disabled people and their families want to and should be able to access leisure, tourism, retail and hospitality again, just like everyone else.
Recent research from the tourism industry suggests disabled people are more nervous about venturing out. There is a need for mutual reassurance between disabled people and organisations.
Organisations need to recognise that accessibility is not something that is separate to the day to day operations of their business. Creating a destination that is accessible will not only improve the visitor experience for all, it will help drive repeat and new business through positive word-of-mouth.
So what is an accessible destination? It is one that provides excellent, accurate accessibility information, makes available a range of accessible facilities and equipment, is inclusive in design and provides excellent disabled customer service.
In our webinar, you will hear from accessibility experts who will explore the barriers that disabled people face when planning a visit to any destination, learn practical tips as to how these barriers may be overcome, understand the benefits of auditing your environment and inclusive design.
Join our host, Mike Adams OBE, CEO of Purple and our panel of accessibility experts to take steps to create a more accessible destination and experience for all.
