The intent of this training is to gauge the extent to which an Adult Care Faciliry has developed a culture of trauma-informed care. By trauma-informed, we mean a culture that incorporates knowledge about trauma- its prevalence, impact, and the complex paths to recovery and healing- into every aspect of the program's contacts, activities, relationships, and physical settings. Safety, trustworthiness, choice, collaboration, and empowerment are the core values of that culture.
A scale will be introduced to you for your use. It can serve as a guide for your own service improvement. The Creating Cultures of Trauma-Informed Care scale addresses: 1) the Physical Setting; 2) Interpersonal Contact; 3) Trustworthiness; 4) Choice; 5) Collaboration; 6) Empowerment; 7) Formal Service Policies; 8) Screening- Assessment-Service Planning (for treatment providers); 9) Administrative Support; 10) Trauma Survivor Involvement; 11) Evaluation; 12) Staff Training; 13) Human Resources Practices.
