Community Conversations: Making Our Schools and Workplaces More Accessible

Thursday, August 12, 2021 at 9:30 PM - 11 PM EDT

What is accessibility? How can we make our schools and workplaces more accessible? As BC nears the re-opening of many schools and workplaces, the topic of accessibility, especially in the realm of remote working and increasing use of technology, a discussion on accessibility is more important than ever.

Join the Downtown Surrey Business Improvement Association for our last Community Conversations that have taken place throughout the summer!

Community Conversations aims to bring community members to engage in purposeful and meaningful conversation about the future of our community. Previous conversations have included the housing crisis, supporting BIPOC businesses, and food security.

Through a presentation from our guest speakers followed by facilitated discussions, we will be diving deeper into why accessibility is important, discussing how improvements can be made to current accessibility measures, and what community members can do to take action.

Our guest speakers are Stephanie Cadieux (she/her). Stephanie Cadieux serves MLA for Surrey South, and Critic for Gender Equity, Accessibility and Inclusion. Se is the first woman with a disability to be elected to the Provincial Legislature and to serve in the executive council. She was a disability advocate prior to entering politics.
