Co-Teaching Now: Working Together to Improve Outcomes for Students with Disabilities

July 23, 2019  —  July 24, 2019
Jul 23, 2019 at 9 AM to Jul 24, 2019 at 3 PM EDT

OSSE’s Division of Teaching and Learning is committed to supporting LEAs to implement evidence-based practices that “catalyze progress and dramatically shift the trajectory of growth for students with disabilities.” This two-day professional development workshop will prepare general and special education teachers serving students with disabilities in grades K-12 to put contemporary, evidence-based practices to work in their co-taught classrooms.

Participants will:

  • Understand the defining elements of co-teaching practice
  • Identify and dispel common myths and misunderstandings about co-teaching
  • Understand specially-designed instruction as a requirement of effective co-teaching
  • Discuss contemporary recommendations regarding roles and responsibilities of general and special educators sharing a co-taught class
  • Identify and appropriately apply six transitional approaches to co-teaching across a variety of scenarios
  • Begin the work of preparing for the coming school year

This two-day professional development workshop was developed for general and special education teachers serving students in co-taught settings in grades K through 12.

Please plan to attend with your co-teacher if you can!

Space is limited and registration is required. Participants should plan to attend both days.
