We are with the Center for Disability Services, we are with a program called Day Hab Without Walls, it is similar to a day program, but we are out in the community all day.
The Program is designed to help integrate people with disabilities into the community helping out and being a part of it. We teach them job skills and help them become better at life.
The plan and goal for having the cooking class is: to be able to integrate them into the community, showing their potential to the community and helping them learn to cook and to teach others as well. We have planned on doing a cooking class once a month, opening it up to other day programs and to the community. This helps the guys to learn the steps that are involved in cooking as well (coming up with a recipe, picking up the food needed, and doing a practice run through for the class).
In February's class - we will be making 3 Bean Mexican Chili and Cornbread - come join us!
