Anxiety, Depression, and Substance Abuse: Strategies for Helping Teen Girls

Friday, October 8, 2021 at 9 AM - 12:15 PM EDT

Today's teen girls are facing challenges unlike any before.

Since COVID-19 began, 80% of girls feel more lonely or isolated, and 58% are uncertain or scared for their futures. When feeling disconnected, girls can become increasingly withdrawn, depressed, or anxious. Girls are four times more likely than their male peers to experience mental health issues. They are at risk for negative outcomes simply because they are female.

As the leading girl-serving organization providing research, programming, and education on girls, Ruling Our eXperiences (ROX) is teaming-up with social worker and addictions specialist Jennifer Haywood to provide helping professionals with a glimpse into the world of today's girls.

Participants will learn about best practices for engaging girls with mental health and substance use issues, as well as specific treatment techniques.
