The ADHD world needs you

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD, previously ADD/ADHD) is a chronic, neuro-developmental disorder affecting over 616 million people worldwide. It's frequently diagnosed during childhood but symptoms persist into adolescence and adulthood, often causing problems throughout the lifespan.

Despite the high number of ADHDers in the world, treatment providers with ADHD expertise are difficult to find. Most therapists and counselors have basic knowledge of the signs and symptoms, but don't fully understand...

  • how it presents *beyond* the DSM 5 criteria
  • the concierge approach of the multimodal treatment protocol
  • impacts on client outcomes when ADHD is overlooked or misdiagnosed
  • when to DIY, consult, or refer out for assessment, diagnosis, and treatment
  • the serious potential risks of ADHD over the lifespan, treated and untreated

This 3-hour online course will address these points, and allow you to:

  • identify therapeutic skills you already have to immediately help ADHD clients
  • practice using valid assessment tools within the scope of your licensure
  • name 3 ways to grow your practice to support the ADHD community
  • explain how partnering with pediatricians, psychiatrists, and schools can bring you new clients and diversify your income

No joke. Despite the lighthearted attitude many folks have toward this complex condition, the effects of ADHD can be devastating throughout the lifespan. ADHDers are at higher risk for education problems, unemployment, mental illness, family conflicts, substance abuse, behavioral addictions, troubled relationships, accidents, legal problems, financial concerns, and suicidality. Your work can help.

Diagnosis is a complex process with multiple layers of assessment. Without a single test to confirm or deny its presence, a full clinical assessment and medical rule-outs are essential. ADHD is easily confused with anxiety, depression, PTSD, bipolar, OCD, sensory issues, learning disabilities, substance abuse, and behavioral disorders. Just to make it more confusing, many of these are also co-occuring *with* the ADHD. You can contribute significantly to the diagnostic process, even if you're not a doctor.

Treatment is also complex, requiring a variety of modalities custom-blended to meet the needs of the client/patient. There is no cure. Like many chronic illnesses, it's about managing the symptoms and tweaking treatment as needed over time... just like you already do in your work with anxiety, depression, trauma, addiction, etc.

After reading all of this, you now know more about ADHD than most people do... including many who have been diagnosed! The good news is that you can help them.
