The CM/NEAR Collaborative will be hosting our ACEs Quarterly on Wednesday July 21 from 3 - 4:30 pm.
This quarter we will have Kima Tozay and Meyleen Velasquez presenting ACES and Perinatal Mental Health: Supporting Communities of Color. This will be an informative virtual presentation that will include some opportunities for interaction as well as a Q&A with our speakers.
About the presentation:
Perinatal mood and anxiety disorders like Postpartum Depression and Anxiety are the most common complications of the childbearing period. BIPOC communities experience significant barriers to mental healthcare which increases the risk for these complications. For many children, a caregiver experiencing an untreated mental health condition will become their first ACE. Recognizing July as BIPOC Mental Health month and Black Maternal Mental Health Week from 19th-26th; this presentation creates a space to raise awareness and discuss the intersection of ACES, race, and perinatal mental health.
